Position:Professional Services Performance Consultant

Location: Canberra/ACT (travel to customer site and remote working)

Clearance: NV2 or PV (preferred)

What You Will Do

  • Analyse and understand customer’s IT organisation, requirements and processes, and use this knowledge to assist in achieving full adoption and utilisation of Riverbed’s solutions to maximise ROI and business value.
  • Serve as an expert in cloud migration, WAN optimisation, networking and application performance, and/or applications delivery, utilising Riverbed’s complete Digital Performance portfolio.
  • Provide specialised planning and design expertise in data centre consolidation and data migration, network configuration and analysis, application performance troubleshooting and/or optimisation.
  • Regularly produce solutions to fulfill customer needs and requirements and document solutions in various documentation formats, HLD, LLD and presentations format. This may include contributions to customer engineering and security accreditation documents and assisting in ensuring compliance.
  • Deliver consulting tasks which include solution planning, design, implementation, and closure of Riverbed’s Unified Observability & WAN Optimisation projects.
  • Present and articulate advanced product features, benefits, and overall product solutions.
  • Conduct analysis and write Troubleshooting/Analysis Reports and Application Dependency Mapping Reports for customers to assist them in addressing issues and providing a way forward when experiencing poor performance or preparing for complex changes.
  • Earn a Trusted advisor status with Riverbed customers and provide a vision around performance management maturity and best practices.
  • Champion the business value of IT Performance Management, security through visibility, and business outcomes.
  • Be prepared to work with adjacent technologies and vendors, where possible providing best effort advice to customers as part of being a trusted advisor.
  • Drive Performance Management and skills enablement, document best practices and create customised and relevant Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Independently work directly with customers, collaborate with colleagues and engage other stakeholders to achieve project goals, likely across multiple concurrent projects with varied levels of complexity.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, VCP, etc) and/or equivalent military / career experience.
  • Experience in professional services, technical consulting, or network engineering/operations preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, drive IT projects forward in large organisations, and translate technical features into tangible customer benefits.
  • Professionalism appropriate for working with and presenting to Fortune 500 and public sector organisations.
  • Passion for teamwork and contributing to a world-class Professional Services team which values excellence, execution, and integrity.
  • Self-motivated and capable of high performance under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team environment or standalone.
  • Excellent business writing and presentation skills.

Technical Skills And Knowledge

  • Technical problem-solving & troubleshooting skills with demonstrated willingness and ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to engage with Riverbed TAC and assist in complex product issues experienced by Federal customers.
  • Deep knowledge & solid experience of network performance management and/or WAN Optimisation solutions.
  • Overall understanding of IT Systems, IT infrastructure and its impact on application performance.
  • Wide and deep understanding of multi-tier application architecture and its different components.
  • Experience with packet traces, protocol analysers and generic utilities (tcpdump, Wireshark, snmpwalk).
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP and network design, protocols, components and operations; multi-tier application architectures.
  • General experience with and the ability to provide consultation of adjacent technologies such as web application architecture and software including Web Servers (Apache, IIS), Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) and/or Operating Systems (UNIX, Windows).
  • Virtualization experience with VMware systems and software; Installation and configuration experience with ESX, VMFS & storage sub-systems. Experience with other Hypervisors is also desirable, including Hyper-V and AHV.
  • Knowledge of Python and/or other languages and integrations (Bash, RESTful APIs, Powershell).

Eligibility

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the level of NV2 with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required.
  • Australian Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain national police check.
