Position Summary
The Data Architect is responsible for designing data infrastructure to extract and organize data for authorized individuals to access, leading the design, structure, and maintenance of data. The incumbent identifies the National University’s internal and external data sources, while collaborating with department leaders to determine their data storage and organizational needs, using the information to create and maintain data infrastructure for company employees. This role will be required to Ensures the accuracy and accessibility of data relevant to an organization or a project while managing and organizing a proficient database design (Concept Maps, ER Diagrams, etc.) and transformation through its lifecycle (SQL, XML, Unstructured data, etc.).
Essential Functions:
- Identifies installation solutions for new data solutions.
- Determines the requirements for new data solutions.
- Publishes and/or presents design reports.
- Identifies areas for improvement in current systems.
- Coordinates with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines.
- Audits databases regularly to maintain quality.
- Creates and documents systems to keep data secure.
- Enforces data security and data privacy.
- Designs systems to support business enterprise applications and physical data modeling according to project requirements.
- Reviews existing data architectures to determine overall effectiveness and compliance with original objectives, develop comprehensive strategies for improving or replacing under-performing areas.
- Models, designs, and implements architectural strategies to meet stated requirements for metadata management, operational data stores and ETL/ELT environments.
- Improves system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements.
- Defines data dictionary definitions, governance practices, and standards.
- Leads end-to-end data lifecycle management activities, evaluating and recommending new and emerging data management and storage technologies.
- Works with business units, functions, and leaders to prioritize business information needs.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience in information technology, statistics, mathematics, operations, or finance.
- A minimum of five (5)+ years of experience delivering data centric solutions on warehousing, big data, and cloud platforms required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of data engineering experience required, ETL and data management preferably using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Microsoft Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Amazon RedShift, Google Bigquery, and/or DBT.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience with an Enterprise Reporting Suite (preferred PowerBI, SQL, DBT) preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of predictive analytics experience preferred, preferably using Azure ML, Python or R.
- A minimum of three (3) years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications or infrastructure preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of AI experience preferred.

- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and prioritize assignments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong executive communication and the ability to deliver clear instruction over digital, written, and live communications.
- Familiar with financials, pipeline, forecast, consumption, and other internal measurement tools.
- Proven working experience as a data engineer, data analyst or business data analyst.
- Strong working knowledge of modern cloud enterprise data warehouse solutions, Power BI, and data modeling.
- In-depth technical capabilities in SQL, Machine Learning, and predictive analytics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to dive deep into complex technical problems.
- Experience on Cloud Computing.
- Experience with database systems internals, query optimization, understanding and providing recommendations to customers on their query patterns.
- Good understanding of modern cloud enterprise data warehouse solutions performance, efficiency and scalability measurement and analysis.
- Familiarity and experience in characterizing, debugging and correcting performance issues in modern cloud enterprise data warehouse solutions.
- Knowledge and experience building and administering production databases.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:
Hourly: $71,360.00 - $96,340.00
