Title:  Special Investigation Unit – Intern

Dates:  Starts 5/13/25 (flexible).  End date 8/8/25

Early Development Program (EDP)
An internship path focused on delivering a meaningful experience designed to enhance student’s skillsets. With access to hands on experience, mentorship, development sessions/workshops, and more, this pathway cultivates future talent who are exploring their career interests.  Most appropriate for freshmen and sophomores.


Job Purpose:
This position is designed to provide hands-on experience to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards of the organization, allowing an opportunity for individuals to apply what they have learned in a classroom environment while gaining new skills in a dynamic professional setting.  Specific activities will vary by department.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Background investigations
  • Prepare written reports
  • Gather and organize data for reports/projects
  • Assist with assignments for SIU (Special Investigation Unit) investigators
  • Conduct address searches
  • Pay invoices as needed
  • Assist with state reporting
  • Attend and participate in meetings
  • Additional investigative research as requested by the SIU Intern manager

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards a relevant degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn

Preferred Experience:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Legal Studies, or another related field with at least one academic year left.
  • Availability to work full time in the summer, with possible part time opportunity during the school year prior to graduation.
  • Strong customer orientation and excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Strong research skills; familiar with various social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and confidentially.
  • Proficiency with Windows, MS Office, and web applications.

Compensation may vary based on level of relevant experience, year in school and number of previous internships.

 

Base Salary Range:

$18.00 - $28.00
