Summary
Our client is an IT consultancy and managed services provider (MSP) that leverages its strong team presence to advance our clients to a secure digital enterprise. Responsibilities

Our client is seeking an Azure SQL DBA/Architect to design, implement, and optimize complex, highly available SQL databases, with a focus on migrating on-premise SQL databases to the Azure Cloud. The ideal candidate will also provide ongoing database support, recommend best practices, and perform day-to-day database management tasks.

  • Plan and execute migrations of highly available SQL databases from on-premise environments to Azure Cloud
  • Collaborate with DBAs, application administrators, development, and test teams to define requirements and solve complex problems
  • Lead the architecture and design of complex database systems, focusing on performance, scalability, and optimization
  • Review and enhance database design, integration, and performance optimization strategies
  • Recommend best practices for data modeling, indexing, and query optimization to improve performance and reliability
  • Design and implement data migration strategies for a smooth transition to the Azure cloud environment
  • Proactively monitor database health, addressing performance issues and bottlenecks
  • Drive the adoption of Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI) for scalability and manageability
  • Ensure data protection and regulatory compliance in collaboration with security and compliance teams
  • Perform risk analysis and manage risks related to database systems, including disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive data

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Microsoft SQL DBA, including design, builds, upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning
  • Experience with cloud migration projects, particularly in migrating SQL databases to Azure Cloud
  • Proficient in Windows Server, WSFC, Always On, Disaster Recovery, and SQL Server architecture
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server Mirroring, Log Shipping, Clustering, and High Availability features
  • Strong experience with SSIS and SSRS for business intelligence requirements
  • Knowledgeable in database performance tuning, query optimization, and database troubleshooting
  • Experience with backups, restore, recovery models, and configuring failover clusters
  • Expertise in SQL High Availability, clustering environments, and DBCC utilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, IaaS, and PaaS solutions
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, statistics, and Active Directory configurations
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
