Overview:

The Marketing, Engagement, and Communications Department establishes a clear vision and objectives for integrated marketing and engagement efforts, providing ongoing strategic direction that aligns with the organization’s business development agenda and engages key stakeholders through a variety of marketing and communications channels. The department executes plans by providing visually appealing and thought-provoking, multichannel content that raises URC’s profile with potential donors, partners, and staff. The team also supports communications needs of existing projects and internal communications priorities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, Engagement and Communications, the Marketing Manager will play a key role in all written communications for internal and external audiences:

  • Provide technical expertise and support across the department and to less experienced writers working on URC projects and programs around the world;
  • Support URC President by writing executive communications, including internal email to all staff;
  • Create outline and talking points for speeches by Executive Team or Senior Leadership Team members;
  • Write strong, differentiated thought leadership, including points of view, case studies, bylines, and blogs;
  • Work collaboratively with MEC Senior Director on messaging and platform development for global marketing campaigns and company leadership;
  • Ensure all written materials across all channels follow the URC Writing Style Guide;
  • Identify, write, and/ or edit success and news stories that help position URC as a trusted partner and expert in the field;
  • Create and maintain an editorial/ content calendar.


Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in writing across a variety of external and internal channels, including but not limited to employee/ internal communications and thought leadership;
  • At least 5 years of experience in writing for C-Suite executives or recognized leadership;
  • At least 3 years of experience with speech writing;
  • Outstanding writing and grammar skills;
  • Ability to write for specific audiences that include potential funders, newsletter subscribers, website visitors, and employees;
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and write stories to be used in marketing campaigns and external outreach efforts;
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with AP Style.


Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of international development industry;
  • Exposure to global health care issues;
  • 3-5 years’ experience as an editor;
  • 3-5 years’ experience in social media.


Work samples produced within the last 6 months are required as part of this application.
