What You'll Do...

H&R Block, the world’s leader in tax preparation services, is looking for exceptional people looking for seasonal work and gain experience with the federal and state tax laws, have strong customer service skills who would like to work in full or part-time position assisting our Tax Institute’s Tax Research Analysts solve their client’s tax law questions during the upcoming 2024 tax season!

As an Tax Research Assistant, you will provided training and gain experience using Salesforce and exercising your research and tax knowledge while working flexible hours in a 100% remote position.

The Tax Institute at H&R Block (TTI) is our company’s center of tax expertise. Unlike any other group in the industry, TTI has broad perspective on emerging issues and common problems affecting taxpayers. Every day, our experts:


  • Interact with H&R Block’s national network of tax professionals and clients.
  • Stay deep in tax law research and complex return prep.

H&R Block tax professionals and associates can use information provided by TTI to educate themselves and their clients on relevant and timely tax issues.

Day to day you’ll …


  • Add to your technical resume by developing skills in Salesforce.
  • Build your tax knowledge with exposure to tax questions submitted by H&R Block tax preparers.
  • Build communication and customer service skills by discovering the tax questions asked by the tax preparers on behalf of their clients and answering the question or directing the issue to the appropriate Tax Research Analyst for resolution.

You’ll use your chat communications skills.

What You'll Bring To The Team...


  • Associate’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
  • 1 year related work experience, ideally in a customer service function

Pay Range Information

The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.

Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
