Overview
AIKO is looking for a PhD in Flight Dynamics passionate about programming to realize a post doc in partnership with ISAE Supaero and AIKO French office (Toulouse). 
 
AIKO is a deep-tech company founded in 2017, with offices in Torino, Italy, and Toulouse, France. We specialize in Artificial Intelligence and Automation technologies for space applications, delivering state-of-the-art solutions for flight and ground software with the goal of enabling autonomous space missions. We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a highly motivated PhD specializing in Space Flight Dynamics to join our innovative team in France. This postdoctoral position is part of an exclusive collaboration with SaCLaB ISAE SUPAERO, one of the leading institutions in aerospace research. 

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, developing and optimizing state-of-the-art algorithms and modules to create advanced training environments for AI-based applications. You will play a key role in shaping the future of space operations, focusing on automation solutions for station-keeping, collision avoidance, and in-orbit servicing.

You’ll have the unique opportunity to divide your time between AIKO and ISAE, working with two leading teams in aerospace innovation. As part of AIKO, you will collaborate closely with a talented group of engineers who are developing cutting-edge AI technologies that are transforming the automation of space missions in both France and Italy. 

This dual role allows you to engage in groundbreaking research while contributing to real-world applications in the rapidly evolving field of space technology.
Tasks
  • Set up a virtual environment capable of managing and propagating the trajectory of different objects (active satellites, debris, satellites without propulsion) in Earth orbit.
  • Design and define realistic resource consumption models for the simulated objects,
  • Write proposals and technical documentation in support of the company's activities.
  • Perform detailed technical analysis, documentation writing, and reporting of the functioning and performance analysis of autonomous space systems concepts.
  • Perform simulations on our autonomy technology in relevant scenarios and support the engineering team in the update of our simulation technology.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's technical capabilities and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of space projects. 
Requirements
  • PhD in the following disciplines: Aerospace Engineering, Computer Sciences, Engineering, Math, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in Space Flight Dynamics Projects.
  • Strong experience with simulation environments like Orekit, Patrius, Basilisk
  • Strong experience with Python3 and libraries such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Numpy.
  • Strong mindset towards software quality.
Preferred Experience

Preferred Experience:  

  • Fluency in English
  • Experience with Java
  • Experience with C++
  • Comfortable with git, ssh, docker.
  • Comfortable with Unix-based OS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Space Missions or Space Systems Engineering.
