What You'll Do

The Sr. Product Solution Engineer provides Sales Executive, CAM or SAM with product content, functionality, and connectivity capabilities in the Discovery phase of an opportunity, and the Zoom or on-site product demonstrations covering, integration, content, and functionality with an intent to obtain the technical win by supporting the Command of the Message presented by the Sales executive to the potential client or partner. The Sr. Product Solution Engineer will report to the Sr Manager of Product Solution Engineering and is remote based.

  • You will use embedded Salesforce tool to distribute the incoming request from the new sales team for PSE resources to support Sales Executives (SE's) in the sales cycles for the following products. AvaTax Calc (ATC), AvaTax Returns (ATR), Avalara Consumer Use (ACU), Avalara for Accountants (A4A), Exemption Certificate Management (ECM), Cert Capture (CC), Cross Border (XB), Avalara License Management (ALM), Avalara Tax Research (ATR), Avalara Property Tax (APT) Advanced Rules (AR), and the integration of these solutions based on the potential client's business model requirements. Working with the SE's to develops detailed customer installation and system integration plans.
  • Every day you will provide pre-sales technical support in sales presentations and product demonstration, including a stable demonstration environment for both Avalara and Partner software solutions.
  • You will work with marketing product managers, technical product managers and design resources to define new product requirements, functionality, and requested customer improvements by identifying and documenting the gaps in current versions of the Avalara products as identified by customers in the sales cycles supported by the PSE's
  • Maintain their knowledge of the current and upcoming product Release and Roadmap capabilities and identified GAP issues. Attend training programs and technical reviews for all new product releases to ensure they can adequately support the Sales Teams in the sales cycles.
  • Be a company liaison on specific technical projects with customers. May provide product feasibility analysis to support sales efforts with sales representatives.


What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent career experience.
  • Experience in SAP
  • Experience in the use tax market and the associated tax compliance challenges.
  • 5+ year's experience as a B2B Sales Professional (SaaS preferred).
  • Record of achieving performance goals including quotas, revenue targets, accurate forecasting, or other goals.
  • Skillset to identify trends and gaps in production reports to lead action plans.
  • Experience teaching/mentoring others to achieve shared success.
  • Experience with SAP implementations
