Your missions

What You'll Do

We are building cloud-based tax compliance solutions to handle every transaction in the world. Imagine every transaction you make - every grocery shop, cup of coffee, or pair of trainers, every meal out, or streamed song, every sensor-to-sensor ping.

Nearly every time you make a purchase, physical or digital, there is an accompanying unique and nuanced tax compliance implication.

We work with businesses of every size, from gigantic global retailers to corner shops. That involves billions of transactions, tens of thousands of legal jurisdictions, and trillions of currency, moving at speeds measured in milliseconds.

We do it better than anyone. That's why we're growing fast.

As an experienced Product Manager, you will join our International VAT compliance team to work with customers, engineering and partners to manage ongoing requirements for Avalara's VAT reporting solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external customers to acquire an understanding of their requirements & our needs (e.g. other PMs, operations, business development, sales, marketing & customer success teams).
  • Gain an understanding of customer jobs to be done, identify, and fill product gaps and create new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and achieve growth.
  • Create buy-in for the product vision with partners both internally and with important external partners.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements. Researching and writing detailed product requirements including user stories for engineering to accomplish.
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact.
  • Work with engineering teams to convey requirements and follow progress.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • Working knowledge of VAT tax regimes and indirect tax in general.
  • Work experience in product management.
  • Experience developing product and marketing strategies and communicate recommendations to executive management.
  • 3+ years of experience working within Jira Project Management.
  • Bachelor's / Masters degree in product management, business administration, computer science, management sciences, or comparable experience.
