Overview:

DecisionPoint Corporation is seeking a Computer Technician to join our IRS PC Refresh team. The Computer Technician will play a critical role in providing technical support for the IRS. The position includes deskside and remote incident management, hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and inventory management. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, experience working with Microsoft products, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment supporting IRS end-users. This role involves the setup, configuration, and installation of laptops and desktop systems, as well as troubleshooting technical issues related to software, hardware, and network systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist government personnel in preparing, packing, and shipping retired inventory of end-user equipment (laptops, desktops) based on Electronic Request Fulfillment Tickets.
  • Provide technical on-site and remote support for incident management related to Windows 10/11 systems, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with other IT organizations to resolve problems.
  • Review and update incident management tickets (via ServiceNow) within 24 hours and provide ticket resolution within 2 business days.
  • Install and configure Windows 10/11 laptops or desktops, ensuring all necessary above-baseline software is installed and operational.
  • Assist in the physical relocation of Automated Data Processing (ADP) equipment, ensuring reestablishment on the IRS network.
  • Maintain inventory records, manage updates, and track orders using Excel and various barcode scanner devices.
  • Ship and receive IT equipment in coordination with IRS depot centers and Asset Management organizations.
  • Perform deskside and remote support using remote tools to troubleshoot and resolve end-user incidents.
  • Provide excellent written and verbal communication when dealing with customers, peers, and management.
  • Follow quality control steps to ensure equipment meets required specifications before deployment or shipment.
  • Manage end-user equipment replacement processes, including packing, shipping, and documenting retired systems.
  • Maintain compliance with IRS guidelines and procedures for equipment disposal.
Qualifications:
  • Active Public Trust Clearance or ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Completed IRS Minimum Background Investigation or ability to clear IRS Minimum Background Investigation.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of basic computer hardware and printer support, including the ability to sanitize equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience in inventory management and using barcode scanner devices.
  • Experience in ticket management systems, preferably ServiceNow.
  • Ability to manage data and inventory updates using Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with computer setup, configuration, imaging, and software installation.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IP phone setup and configuration.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows-based systems, Microsoft Office software, and desktop/laptop hardware.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and assist with physical setup and relocation of equipment.
