We're looking for a Senior Managing Director to join the Product Development Practice at Modus Create. 

We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Senior Managing Director to lead the Directors within the Product Development Practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, a deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and extensive experience in managing teams and optimizing processes. This role is pivotal in building and maintaining a high-performing, high-quality consulting practice that delivers exceptional results to our clients.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Team Management & Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team that covers product development including the areas of ideation & conceptualization, market research & analysis, product design & development, testing & validation, production & launch, and post-launch support & iteration, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Implement performance management systems that include clear goals, regular feedback, and development plans tailored to individual and team needs.
    • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity, accountability, and high performance.

Process Management & Optimization

    • Oversee and continuously improve the processes within the Product Development Practice to ensure efficiency, scalability, and high-quality outputs.
    • Ensure Implementation of best practices in software development, product management, UX design, project management, and quality assurance, ensuring all projects adhere to the highest standards. These best practices should be documented in runbooks.
    • Utilize data and analytics to identify areas for process improvement, implementing changes that enhance productivity, client satisfaction and the team’s level of being active, visible and relevant (AVR).
    • Help activate partnerships like AWS and LaunchDarkly through certifications and upskilling initiatives.

Quality Assurance & Delivery

    • Ensure all deliverables meet or exceed client expectations for quality and timeliness established by quality control processes.
    • Work closely with project managers and team leads to monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Regularly review project outcomes and feedback to identify opportunities for improving the practice’s delivery methodologies.
  • People-Centric Leadership:
    • Focus on the professional development of team members by identifying growth opportunities, providing coaching, and facilitating training programs.
    • Promote a positive and engaging work environment where employees feel valued, motivated, and empowered to contribute their best work.
    • Address and resolve any team-related challenges, ensuring a harmonious and productive working environment.
  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Support client engagement by working closely with team leads to understand client needs and ensure that the team is aligned with delivering value.
    • Collaborate with clients to gather feedback on project performance and implement changes to improve client satisfaction.
    • Partner with the Client Partner team to identify opportunities for expanding the scope of work with existing clients.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of industry experience, a track record of building quality products, and the ability to build a cohesive, distributed team that is marching toward a common goal.

Required Skills:

  • A clear Point of View on how to develop quality products backed up with experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in product development with a solid background in software engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior management role, focusing on team leadership and process optimization in a consulting or technology environment.
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong skills in process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with clients in various industries. Healthcare, Life Sciences, Financial Services or Automotive industry experience is a plus.
