Embedded Linux Firmware Developer 

 

SKF is spearheading the green transition in the bearing business. Here in the north, we are developing and maintaining software, firmware, and hardware solutions for the industry in condition monitoring which aids the green transition. Our IoT solutions provide detailed health information and actionable insights about our customers’ machinery to foresee failures and prevent downtime. We are now combining our experience with the latest technology in our next big initiative to develop the next-generation condition monitoring ecosystem.

 

Key responsibilities  
Designing embedded firmware that meets user needs and enhances their experience is rewarding and challenging. Together with your agile team, you’ll do so by

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain firmware for embedded systems (Linux/Yocto).
  • Brainstorm, share insights, and collectively create something impactful.
  • Do code reviews with your peers.
  • Maintain the culture of competence growth, innovation, and fun. 
  • Collaborate with other firmware, software, and hardware teams.
  • Work with product owners, architects, and technical needs.

 
We expect you to have

  • A university degree (preferred field of study: Computer science, Electronics engineering, Embedded systems, or related field).  
  • High level of knowledge in coding and problem-solving for embedded Linux/Yocto systems.
  • An open mindset and experience in agile development.
  • No problem articulating yourself in English. 
  • An openness for occasional travel if needed for specific activities. 

 

Some of the tools, techniques, and experience in your toolbelt could be

  • Linux/Yocto
  • C, Python, GCC
  • Cyber security 
  • ADO, GIT, GITHUB 
  • WiFi, BLE, LTE, Ethernet, eMMC, Wireless mesh networks
  • MQTT, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Uboot, Firmware “over the air” updates
  • Electronics design, Measurement instruments

Location: SKF Office in Luleå, Sweden. This office employs about 65 people.
