Overview

We are seeking a Director, Field Reimbursement Lead – West to manage a regional team of field reimbursement. The Field Reimbursement Team is a critical component of the commercial strategy and will work in close collaboration with Sales, Patient Services, Strategic Account Management and Market Access to support Alnylam’s patient-focused vision of harnessing a revolution in biology for human health.

This field-based position will report to the Senior Director, Field Reimbursement and requires 50-75% travel.

The successful candidate must be passionate about science and deeply motivated by the quest of delivering value to patients with the long-term success of the company in mind. This individual will have a deep and board understanding of access and reimbursement across the healthcare landscape, as well as cross-functional business knowledge to optimize access and deliver an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hire, lead, and empower an experienced and talented team of field reimbursement directors skilled in access, coverage, and reimbursement across all sites of care including physician office, ambulatory infusion center, hospital outpatient department and home treatment
  • Foster and inspire a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture that encourages accountability and embraces innovation with a purposeful sense of urgency
  • Provide regular performance feedback, coaching and professional development to team members
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Field Reimbursement in the development of strategy, tactics and messaging that align to Market Access priorities as well as in the creation of key performance metrics
  • Utilize analytics and reporting dashboards to identify access and reimbursement issues within the region and collaborate closely with leadership from Sales, Patient Services, Strategic Account Management, and Market Access in the development of strategic solutions and action plans
  • Deliver consistent guidance via team calls, field ride alongs, and meeting engagements to ensure the team is compliantly and effectively leveraging tools and materials to educate healthcare professionals
  • Serve as the escalation point for regional access and reimbursement challenges
  • Maintain strategic relationships with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) within the region to ensure optimal coverage for Alnylam therapies and monitor Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and National Coverage Determinations (NCDs)
  • Ensure team’s compliance with the appropriate ways of working across diverse cross-functional partnerships

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical/biotech experience required
  • 8+ years of field reimbursement experience within a ‘buy and bill’ environment required
  • 3+ years of leading a field reimbursement team or experience managing a field- based team preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of both medical benefit and pharmacy benefit across all payer types (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial and VA/DoD) and sites of care ( physician office, ambulatory infusion center, hospital outpatient department and home treatment)
  • Established relationships with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) highly preferred
  • Proven ability to identify key access and reimbursement barriers to treatment and design effective resolution plans
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative matrix
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, energetic environment
