Summary

As a Data Scientist at the GS-1560-12, you will be part of the Data analytics Branch of Merit Systems Accountability and Compliance (MSAC), Agency Compliance and Evaluation (ACE) in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). If selected, you will be responsible for researching, developing, deploying, communicating, maintaining, and enhancing organizational analytic solutions using analytics techniques.

Duties

Maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with other agencies in order to share information and learn the latest developments in analytical tools and techniques to efficiently assist with mission-related work.Conduct research of analytical solutions using techniques such as basic machine learning, natural language processing, robotics process automation, or artificial intelligence.Develop and deploy of analytical solutions using techniques such as basic machine learning, natural language processing, robotics process automation, or artificial intelligence.Streamline internal processes using Microsoft Power Applications and Microsoft Automate automating existing multistep business operations to reduce the need for manual tasks and increase process efficiencies.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation May be required to successfully complete a probationary period This position is not eligible for inclusion in a bargaining unit

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Specialized Experience Requirements as noted below. Basic Requirements: This position has an education requirement. All applicants must provide official or unofficial transcripts from an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to demonstrate they meet the Basic Requirements. A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. Majors that provide a theoretical basis in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or data science, including science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), finance, economics, and other fields. OR B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. Specialized Experience Requirements: For the GS-12: You must have one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-11 grade level. You must include evidence of this specialized experience in your resume, including dates of experience (month/year), to be considered qualified for this position. Specialized experience for this position must have included ALL of the following: 1) using algorithms and Al tools to streamline or integrate new automation to improve existing data science products or processes to drive future initiatives; 2) building data visualization tools for measuring or forecasting performance to drive decision-making; 3) applying complex data analytics/science experience to develop data tools; 4) designing sample methodologies, statistical models, or "what if" synthesized data scenarios; (5) leveraging database systems, such as SharePoint, functionalities to securely store, organize, track, or manipulate data in databases to inform stakeholders, streamline data management, or enhance decision-making capabilities. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
