About The Role

As an IT Research Computing Analyst, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional IT solutions to agricultural research stations across North Carolina. Working within a collaborative team, your responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and repairing technology systems that support critical agricultural research and development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Solutions Development

  • Define requirements and identify technical solutions to meet research needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as requirements, process maps, and test plans.
  • Collaborate with various units (network, storage, applications, etc.) to ensure stable and scalable technology infrastructure.
  • Research and recommend agricultural technologies, leading procurement and acquisition efforts.
  • Assist with cabling design and support interactions with internal and external teams to meet technology requirements.

Project Management and Consultation

  • Lead project planning and implementation of technical solutions.
  • Develop and present progress reports, proposals, and requirements documentation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for technology integration and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Track project progress, budget, and performance indicators, and convey clear project goals.

Technical Strategy

  • Contribute to improving IT research support through proactive suggestions and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide input on architecture and planning strategies, and guide telecommunications design decisions.
  • Support ongoing development and maintenance of the IT strategic plan.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies and work with management to adapt processes.

Operational Support

  • Enhance customer service and operational performance through innovative ideas.
  • Install and maintain RF radio hardware, fiber optic cabling, and perform construction design as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, document procedures, and support disaster recovery efforts.
  • Manage technical inventory and equipment, and perform site assessments and technology evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology, networking technology, or a related field, and two years of relevant IT experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of business continuity, disaster recovery, WLAN topologies, VOIP systems, and enterprise software distribution.
  • Experience with IP networking, Microsoft Active Directory, MDM management, and cybersecurity best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Google Applications, ITSM systems (ServiceNow preferred), and relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, A+, CCNA).
  • Experience with virtualization, network storage systems, and GIS planning.
  • Knowledge of agile and waterfall development methodologies.
