Position Overview

In this role, you will play a vital part in overseeing day-to-day construction activities and leading a team of inspectors. You will work closely with contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily construction activities and guide a team of inspectors.
  • Review plans, specifications, and construction methods with contractors, ensuring field work aligns with project requirements.
  • Address and resolve field issues, coordinating between contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and ensure compliance with project plans and budget constraints.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring project scopes and budgets.
  • Assign tasks and manage overtime for highway technicians and project supervisors.
  • Monitor contractor progress, address schedule and contract issues, and approve or reject work.
  • Communicate with property owners, government officials, and the public about construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal policies and standards.
  • Maintain construction records, manage change orders, and prepare documentation related to contractor claims.
  • Attend relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train team members, setting clear expectations and providing opportunities for professional growth.
  • Evaluate employee performance and ensure work quality and adherence to deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree, or Certification in Construction Management, Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • Four years of full-time experience in Construction Management or a related field. (Note: Educational qualifications can substitute for required experience with specific limits.)
  • Broad knowledge of construction management methods, safety, scheduling, and cost analysis.
  • Experience with scheduling, CADD, field layout, project quantities, material procurement, and equipment tracking.
  • Proficiency in construction management applications (e.g., SiteManager).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage projects effectively.
  • Experience in delegating tasks, providing feedback, and developing team members.
