Description

Are you a savvy buyer with a passion for grocery procurement? This role is ideal for a dynamic individual ready to drive the success of our product lines. You will be at the forefront of our procurement strategy, collaborating closely with our Senior Director of Purchasing and other key team members. Your contributions will be vital in managing inventory, negotiating costs, and ensuring timely product delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Ordering: Manage product orders to align with forecasted demand, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Cost & Quality Negotiation: Secure the best product costs, quality, and service, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Meet inventory and turnover goals while maintaining high service levels and minimizing excess.
  • Vendor Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, store operations, and distribution centers.
  • Cost Review: Evaluate acquisition costs to ensure competitive pricing without compromising quality or reliability.
  • Forecasting: Assess inventory, market conditions, and promotional impacts to forecast order quantities and provide recommendations.
  • Promotional Analysis: Conduct post-promotional reviews to determine if goals were met and develop solutions for any issues.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve inventory issues at the store level, including allocation and order problems.
  • Reporting: Analyze daily and weekly reports to monitor costs, quality, service levels, and inventory turns, making adjustments as needed.
  • Store Visits: Occasionally visit stores to monitor program effectiveness, gather feedback, and ensure proper implementation.
  • Accounts Payable: Manage Accounts Payable processes to ensure accurate invoicing for distribution-sourced items.
  • Billing Resolution: Resolve store billing discrepancies and provide appropriate resolutions or credits.
  • Documentation: Maintain necessary department files and records accurately.
  • Warehouse Coordination: Work with Warehouse Operations to ensure smooth product flow through the facility.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in Purchasing or Vendor Management, preferably in the food industry or retail.
  • Background: Strong understanding of grocery procurement, logistics, inventory management, and financial practices.
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to make informed, fact-based decisions.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel) and able to handle frequent interruptions.
  • Planning: Ability to plan, organize, and manage tasks effectively.
