Your missions

Description

Join our finance team and take on a vital role in managing cash, disbursements, and various accounting activities. This position primarily focuses on General Ledger duties while supporting diverse finance functions. Your responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining journals for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Reconciling accounts and handling audit inquiries.
  • Supporting core treasury functions such as cash management and electronic payments.
  • Performing various accounting and bookkeeping tasks according to established policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to projects and taking on additional duties as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Create and maintain journals, ensuring accurate reconciliation and review for all revenue/accounts receivable streams and related bank transactions.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and apply unallocated cash.
  • Assist with online banking activities and research cash receipts, including coding and posting of receipts.
  • Assign General Ledger (GL) codes, prepare journals for management review, and ensure they are uploaded into the appropriate financial systems.
  • Review and reconcile activities posted to cash and assigned GL accounts in a timely manner.
  • Generate accounting statements and reports as required.
  • Support month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting, audits, and inquiries.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and review monthly/quarterly rent determination requirements.

Requirements

  • Goal-oriented with 2+ years of solid accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (required).
  • Proficiency with relevant software and platforms, including:
    • Sage Intacct
    • Financial Edge
    • Fundraising software (Altru experience preferred)
    • Accounts Payable platforms (e.g., AvidXchange, BILL)
    • MS Office (Excel: V-Lookups, Formulas, Pivot Tables)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in public accounting or extensive nonprofit accounting experience is preferred.
