Your missions

Description

We are dedicated to enhancing educational experiences for deaf and hard-of-hearing students by offering exceptional virtual sign language interpreting services to schools across the country. As a Virtual Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), you will support students in Eugene, Oregon, in a remote role that serves K-12 students in various educational settings.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English in diverse K-12 educational environments.
  • Foster meaningful interaction between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and school personnel.
  • Coordinate with educational teams to ensure accurate delivery of curriculum content.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Prepare thoroughly by studying course materials and subject-specific vocabulary.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of student information and uphold professional ethics.
  • Engage in educational team meetings and ongoing professional learning opportunities.

Qualifications

  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in ASL Interpreting, Deaf Education, or a related field (preferred).
  • Oregon state certification in educational interpreting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience interpreting in K-12 settings.
  • Exceptional proficiency in both ASL and English.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of deaf culture and age-appropriate educational strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt interpreting style to various subjects and student needs.
  • Flexibility to work across different grade levels as needed.
