Director of Physics Instructional Laboratories

Are you passionate about physics education and hands-on learning? This dynamic role involves leading and enhancing our teaching labs. You’ll manage and develop apparatus for a variety of instructional labs, from introductory physics to advanced topics, ensuring a high-quality educational experience for our students.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and support undergraduate and graduate students, collaborating closely with course instructors.
• Manage, maintain, and develop instructional lab equipment and apparatus.
• Coordinate with on-campus machinists to ensure smooth operation and innovation in lab setups.
• Engage in physical activities related to lab operations and maintenance.
• Work in partnership with faculty to support and improve lab-based teaching across multiple physics courses.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics or a related field with a solid understanding of physics principles.
• Experience with commercial lab equipment, electronics, and soldering.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design, mechanical drawings, 3D printing, and database management (e.g., Filemaker).
• Strong communication skills and a background in pedagogy.
• Adaptable, enthusiastic, and a team player with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or several years of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with advanced machining skills and educational technology.
