Your missions

Description

We are excited to invite a talented Outpatient Facility Medical Coder to join our dynamic team in a remote capacity, following initial on-site training in Clackamas, OR. We are looking for someone with a solid background in medical coding who is dedicated to maintaining high standards in coding practices and patient data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes to patient health records across various facility settings, including Emergency Departments, Ambulatory Surgical Centers, and Inpatient records.
  • Ensure that coding complies with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and HCPCS/CPT classification systems.
  • Review and verify that all coded data meets quality standards and complies with government regulations and guidelines.
  • Adhere to coding standards established by AHIMA, CMS, and other relevant organizations, while upholding ethical coding practices and maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures, providing updates on coding requirements and practices in a clear and approachable manner.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in facility coding is required. Experience in a Kaiser Apprentice program is also considered.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • One of the following certifications is mandatory:
    • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
    • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Skills

  • Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS/CPT coding, and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and various computer applications.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle a significant workload under pressure.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of CMS HCC Risk Adjustment coding is a plus.
