Medical Billing and Coding Specialist - Patient Focused

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing/Coding Specialist to join our team in a remote capacity. In this role, you will review and code patient visits into insurance claims, company bills, or self-pay bills, ensuring successful payment processing. Key Responsibilities

• Communicate with patients daily over the phone to answer questions or process payments.
• Code patient visits accurately each day.
• Assist team members with billing and insurance-related queries.
• Participate in weekly billing rotations for patient visits.
• Resolve payment issues by communicating with insurance companies.
• File electronic insurance claims and manage appeals.
• Respond to claim denials and work to resolve any outstanding issues.
  
  

What You'll Bring

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, whether on the phone or in person.
• Excellent customer service abilities with a professional, patient-focused approach.
• In-depth knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workers' Compensation insurance billing guidelines.
• Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Prior experience with claims processing, payment posting, denials, and appeals.
• Ability to work full days from home, ensuring a focused, interruption-free work environment.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate in Coding.
• At least two years of relevant experience in medical billing and coding.
  
  

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a remote position, where most of your day will involve sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Typing and phone communication will be regular parts of your day, with about 50% of the time spent speaking on the phone. There will be some standing, walking, and transitioning between sitting and standing during your workday.
