Job Summary

Are you an experienced medical biller with a passion for precision and efficiency? We’re looking for a dedicated Independent Contractor to join our team. In this role, you’ll use your expertise in Oral Surgery, Orofacial Pain, Dental Sleep, and Medicare billing to manage and process medical claims. You should be comfortable working with medical billing software on your own computer, which must meet our IT standards. A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical insurance billing, including claim submission, insurance payment posting, and appealing claims, is required.

We value self-motivated individuals who excel at time management. As a medical biller, your role will involve supporting clients by collecting what is owed and effectively following up on outstanding medical claims.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical billing with a solid understanding of dental billing.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a robust system for tracking claims.
  • Ability to review denials and ensure the accuracy of explanations of benefits or resolve any issues.

Responsibilities

  • Submit clean claims with appropriate modifiers to insurance companies electronically or via the 1500 form.
  • Verify insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with provider contracts and patient benefits.
  • Perform collection actions, including communication with clients and insurance companies by phone and online.
  • Utilize accounts receivable reporting to review and appeal unpaid and denied claims.
  • Review all denials and confirm the accuracy of explanations of benefits or assist in resolving discrepancies.

Expectations and Commitment

As an Independent Contractor, you will use your own computer that meets our IT requirements.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of dedicated billing experience with Health Fusion or Advanced MD.
  • A dedicated workspace, reliable computer, printer, and high-speed internet.
  • Deep understanding of explanations of benefits (EOBs) and the ability to accurately post payments and adjustments.
  • Self-directed with the ability to set goals and work independently.
  • Highly disciplined and detail-oriented, with the ability to review account ledgers, payments, and EOBs quickly and efficiently.
