Your missions

Description

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Assistant Program Director to join our growing radio and digital media network. In this role, you’ll collaborate with our programming leadership to manage all aspects of programming across our radio stations, helping to empower local voices and champion democracy through high-quality content.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Program Directors and the VP of Programming to execute programming strategy.
  • Manage expenses and optimize the use of our assets.
  • Identify opportunities to promote our mission, grow our audience, and increase sales.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for problem-solving in the local market.
  • Write and manage imaging for music formats across our markets.
  • Coordinate on-air staff, sales staff, promotion, and marketing teams for events and listener-facing appearances.
  • Manage time-off and vacation requests.
  • Work alongside the Program Director to pre-approve content for specialty, holiday, and weekend programming.
  • Maintain programming liners to ensure our initiatives are communicated effectively.
  • Coach and develop on-air staff.
  • Voice commercials for broadcast.
  • Represent our interests in all markets.
  • Attend ongoing coaching sessions.
  • Foster a sense of teamwork among various departments in our markets.
  • Please note that the responsibilities of this role may evolve over time.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in an on-air or programming management position.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to work with community, government, and business leaders.
  • Understanding of basic technical operations of a radio station.
  • Knowledge of how Operations, News, Sales, and Marketing collaborate to create an outstanding product and results.
  • Proficiency in IT tools such as Google Suite, Wide Orbit, and Promosuite.
  • Understanding of Musicmaster is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel to/from local markets (approximately 25% of the time).
