Your missions

About the Role

Join our dynamic Accounting team at Abnormal Security as an Equity Manager, where you'll play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our equity administration functions. In this position, you will oversee the equity platform, ensuring data accuracy and leading the implementation of new systems, including the RFP process and data transfer audits. You will work closely with HR, Legal, and Finance to develop and streamline equity processes, including grant approvals, employee updates, and payroll integration, while supporting SOX compliance and preparing Board documents. 

What you will do 

Platform Management:

  • Oversee the equity platform to ensure data is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Lead the implementation of a new equity platform, including managing the RFP process, overseeing data transfer, and conducting audits.

External Vendor Coordination:

  • Collaborate with outside counsel and tax advisors to ensure compliance with legal and tax regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for equity platform support.

Process and Procedures:

  • Partner with Compensation/HR, Finance, and Legal to develop and streamline equity processes, including grant approvals, employee updates, exercise requests, and payroll processing.
  • Create and maintain written procedures and point-of-contact owners for each process.
  • Implement best practices for SOX compliance.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of month/quarter/year-end share rollforward and support Finance with SBC and payroll requests.
  • Prepare Board documents for new grant approvals and review HR recruiting files.

Audit Support:

  • Provide internal and external audit support for periodic audits related to equity processing, including new grants, terminations, grant cancellations, employee updates, and option exercises.

Employee Communication and Education:

  • Act as the primary contact for employee inquiries regarding equity transactions.
  • Update and maintain internal resources for employee education on equity matters.
Must Haves 
  • 8+ years of equity management experience with both private and public companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an equity program independently.
  • Familiarity with equity platforms, including Carta.
  • Knowledge of US tax requirements and basic understanding of international tax regulations for countries such as Canada, UK, Australia, India, and Singapore.
  • CEP designation preferred.
Nice to Have 
  • Experience working in a startup environment
