Position Overview: We are looking for a skilled Power BI Data Engineer to oversee the development and optimization of our data models and semantic layers. This role involves managing the database, designing and implementing DAX measures, and ensuring that our Power BI dashboards provide accurate and actionable insights. You will work closely with Data Visualization Designers and the product team to ensure that our data products meet the highest standards of performance and usability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage Power BI data models and semantic layers to support various business requirements.
  • Create and optimize DAX measures to deliver accurate and insightful metrics and KPIs in Power BI dashboards.
  • Oversee and implement the design, development, and maintenance of complex data models, including relationships, calculations, and data transformations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data accuracy, performance, and dashboard functionality.
  • Document data models, DAX calculations, and dashboard design choices to ensure transparency and consistency.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring understanding and facilitating informed decision-making. Coordinate with technology and other groups to create timely release notes and other client-facing communication, support documentation and training tools.
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures and mission statement. Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as always outlined within Inovalon’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position.
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company. Uphold responsibilities relative to the separation of duties for applicable processes and procedures within your job function;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Power BI Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Expertise in developing and optimizing DAX measures and calculations for Power BI.
  • Proficiency in designing and managing relational databases and semantic models.
  • Experience with ETL processes and tools, including data integration and transformation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data warehousing technologies.
  • Knowledge of advanced data modeling concepts and techniques.
  • Minimum of 4 years of prior work experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of product development experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Python programming is preferred.
  • Experience working with big data a big plus. 

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Inovalon, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

$128,600$160,000 USD
