About The Role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced individual to oversee our IT project portfolio. You will collaborate closely with the Vice Chancellor IT CIO or their designee to manage project methodologies, standards, and governance, ensuring each project delivers measurable benefits to our organization. Leading and mentoring a team of Enterprise IT Project Managers and overseeing the PMO within the IT department will be core responsibilities in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the IT Project Management Office, ensuring excellence in project management practices.
  • Project Oversight: Lead and direct projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and meeting stakeholder expectations.
  • Communication: Provide clear and timely information to stakeholders, team members, and IT management.
  • Team Management: Motivate, collaborate with, and manage the project team, driving performance and collaboration.
  • Risk Management: Identify, prioritize, and mitigate project risks.
  • Process Improvement: Ensure the PMO adheres to established processes and standards, making necessary modifications for best practices.
  • Prioritization: Develop and administer a framework for project prioritization across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Lead large teams and manage complex projects, ensuring scope, quality, time, and budget requirements are met.
  • Quality Control: Structure and lead project status reviews and post-completion evaluations for continuous improvement.
  • Planning: Coordinate project activities, review proposals, and manage schedules and budgets.
  • Documentation: Develop project documentation, including charters, milestones, and roles & responsibilities.
  • Team Development: Select project team members, plan and review their work, and provide training and mentorship.
  • Change Management: Develop and execute a change management strategy for project success.
  • Budget Management: Monitor and manage project budgets.
  • Transition Planning: Ensure smooth transition of project deliverables upon completion.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of experience in IT project management; or an Associate degree in a related field with seven years of IT project management experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Prince2, or equivalent certification; or two years of additional IT project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing IT projects in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with complex ERP, networking, or security projects.

  • Proven ability to lead and execute successful projects.
  • Strong project management skills, able to handle multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
