Description

As part of a leading staffing agency, we are hiring Coding Specialist candidates for an opportunity in Health Information Management. This remote position requires extensive experience at a level II Trauma center and proficiency in coding for various discharge departments while working closely with Clinical Inpatient support and Health Information Management leadership.

The role focuses on accurately assigning ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure PCS codes during clinical encounters in line with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines, ensuring precise reimbursement. Remote work is available for candidates residing outside of CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes by translating various medical documentation.
  • Engagement in the coding process, ensuring compliance with CMS’s Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • Collaboration with HIM staff to obtain necessary physician clarifications regarding incomplete or ambiguous documentation.
  • Adherence to Health Information Management Coding policies and applying the AHA Official Coding Guidelines in daily tasks.
  • Maintenance of coding certification and keeping updated with current ICD-10-CM coding guidelines.
  • Participation in performance improvement initiatives as assigned.

Skills And Certifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of previous inpatient coding experience is required.
  • Preferred experience in acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II coding.
  • Required certifications: AAPC, AHIMA, or equivalent Certified Coding credential (apprenticeship classification excluded).

  • Base Salary: USD \(56,056 to \)78,478
