 Principal FP&A, Sales & Marketing

The Principal FP&A, Sales & Marketing, is a senior-level role responsible for providing strategic financial insights and support to the Sales and Marketing functions of the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of sales and marketing dynamics, strong financial acumen, and the ability to influence decision-making at the executive level. The Principal FP&A will work closely with Sales and Marketing leadership to optimize financial performance, drive revenue growth, and improve the effectiveness of marketing investments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. **Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis:**

- Lead the financial planning and analysis for the Sales and Marketing departments, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.

- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing leadership to develop financial strategies that align with business goals.

- Analyze sales and marketing performance, providing insights and recommendations to improve profitability and ROI.

 

2. **Sales Performance Analysis:**

- Conduct in-depth analysis of sales performance, including revenue trends, pipeline health, and sales productivity.

- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sales team, identifying areas for improvement and growth opportunities.

- Support sales leadership in pricing strategy, discounting, and deal structuring to maximize revenue and margins.

 

3. **Marketing ROI & Effectiveness:**

- Evaluate the financial impact of marketing campaigns and initiatives, providing insights on ROI and effectiveness.

- Partner with the marketing team to optimize marketing spend and allocation of resources.

- Analyze customer acquisition costs, lifetime value, and other key metrics to inform marketing strategy.

 

4. **Forecasting & Budgeting:**

- Lead the development of detailed forecasts and budgets for the Sales and Marketing departments.

- Ensure alignment between sales forecasts and financial projections, adjusting as needed based on market conditions.

- Provide ongoing updates to forecasts based on actual performance and changes in strategy.

 

5. **Executive Reporting & Decision Support:**

- Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to executive leadership, including variance analysis and risk assessments.

- Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions, such as market expansion, product launches, and M&A activities.

- Act as a trusted advisor to Sales and Marketing leadership, offering data-driven insights and recommendations.

 

6. **Cross-Functional Collaboration:**

- Work closely with other finance teams, including corporate FP&A, to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting.

- Collaborate with operations, product, and customer success teams to understand the broader impact of sales and marketing activities.

- Partner with IT and data teams to enhance financial systems and reporting capabilities.

 

7. **Process Improvement:**

- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial processes related to Sales and Marketing.

- Implement best practices in financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting within the Sales and Marketing FP&A function.

- Stay current with industry trends and benchmarks, incorporating them into financial planning processes.

 

Qualifications:

 

 Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

Experience:10+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on Sales and Marketing; experience in a similar industry is a plus.

- **Skills:**

- Strong understanding of sales and marketing financial metrics and performance drivers.

- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting skills.

- Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting tools, such as Excel, SAP, Hyperion, or similar.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.

- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage complex projects.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
