Job Summary

The Data Reporting Specialist will be responsible for data analysis, report creation, and dashboard development to enhance business intelligence initiatives. As a Data Reporting Specialist you will focus on analyzing data, crafting reports, and building dashboards to deliver valuable insights that fuel organizational growth and success.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain SQL queries and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

• Utilize IBM Cognos to create, enhance, and manage complex reports and interactive dashboards.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document reporting requirements.

• Analyze business needs and translate them into technical specifications for reporting solutions.

• Ensure data accuracy and integrity in reports and dashboards.

• Perform data analysis to support decision-making processes.

• Optimize SQL queries and IBM Cognos reports for performance and scalability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SQL queries, Cognos reports, and data discrepancies.

• Provide training and support to end-users on the use of Cognos reports and dashboards.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in SQL, IBM Cognos, and related technologies.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a SQL Developer, Data Analyst, or similar role.

• Expertise in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance.

• Extensive experience with IBM Cognos, including report and dashboard creation.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.

• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Technical Requirements:

• Candidates must provide their equipment and technology meeting these minimum specifications:

• Up-to-date desktop or laptop computer with at least 8GB of RAM and a modern processor (Intel i5 or equivalent)

• Windows 10 or macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later

• High-speed internet connection with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps

• Functional headset with microphone, webcam, and reliable keyboard and mouse

• Quiet workspace devoid of distractions

• A second monitor is preferred but not required

• Emergency backup or contingency plan for technology or connectivity issues

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or R.

• Knowledge of data visualization best practices.

• Understanding of business processes and data modelling.
