THE OPPORTUNITY:

This position participates in the administration and communication of compensation and benefit plans for Transtar Industries. The compensation responsibilities include conducting classification reviews and job audits, conducting salary and wage surveys, market reviews, and pay compression studies. The role also analyzes salary data and makes recommendations regarding salary placement, reviews and makes salary recommendations for new hires, internal promotions, reclassifications, and other employee actions while ensuring consistency, internal equity, and external market competitiveness of requested actions/recommendations as well as compliance with compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures.  The benefit responsibilities include daily administration of multiple benefit-related human resource programs and services which may include health and welfare plans, savings plans, employee recognition, worker’s compensation, wellbeing and/or other company sponsored programs. It also serves as a liaison between team members and third party administrators in resolving claims issues and other service-related concerns.  The role is a senior level resource in areas of health and welfare plans and savings plans. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES - COMPENSATION: 

  • Participates in the ongoing administration of compensation plans by:

o   Conducting classification reviews and job audits. 

o   Completing position evaluation/classification process by researching and analyzing data and assigning pay ranges, job title, and FLSA status. 

o   Performing quality control on job descriptions and other functionally relevant documents. 

o   Researching and analyzing salary data.

  • Provides salary administration assessments by:

o   Reviewing and making salary recommendations for new hires, internal promotions, reclassifications, and other employee actions.

o   Ensuring consistency, internal equity, and external market competitiveness of requested actions/recommendations as well as compliance with compensation policies, guidelines, and procedures.

o   Participating in, conducting, and/or responding to salary and wage surveys, market reviews, and pay compression studies as required. Analyzing data and making corresponding salary adjustment recommendations.

o   Participating in the preparation and review of data for company-wide or classification-wide general or equity salary adjustments.

  • Assist with administering the annual bonus program and merit pay increase process by:

o   Assisting with creating compensation events related to these compensation programs in ADP.

o   Ensuring related program materials are updated on an annual basis (i.e. agreements, communication).

o   Assisting with ensuring that all approvals are obtained from all levels of management.

o   Working with the Total Rewards Manager and the Payroll team to ensure that payments and/or pay adjustments are paid accurately and on time.

  • Participates in the development and presentation of Compensation training sessions for HR team members. Prepares compensation communiques. Provides compensation administration guidance to leadership.
  • Enters, reviews, approves, and audits employee information in ADP as requested.
  • Provides special project support to the various Human Resource functions as requested.
  • Keeps current with compensation trends, developments, and practices through active participation in departmental learning initiatives, continuing education courses, professional organizations, seminars, and workshops, reading current literature and maintaining professional contacts in the community.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES - BENEFITS:

·        Leads projects from inception to completion (e.g., various open enrollments, SPD review and revisions, plan design changes, new benefit implementations, wellbeing programs etc.). Identifies, reviews, and recommends benefit plan changes to ensure competiveness and sustainability in company offerings. 

·        Function as expert on all vendor file interfaces, including ADP internal interfaces, as well as, external vendor interfaces, ensuring that file interfaces are working as intended

·        Assists with the design, coordination of activities and communication of benefits materials. 

·        Performs the day-to-day administration, reconciliation and customer service of multiple health and welfare plans, worker’s compensation and other company-sponsored programs. Provides support and guidance.

·        Manages activities and materials for welfare and savings plans. Works with vendor for implementations and plan modifications. Leads the preparation and audit of data needed for compliance requirements, i.e. 5500s, non-discrimination testing, auditors, etc. Input and reconciles employee contribution, loan and other activity through HRIS and/or other systems. Leads and prepares all analysis and information for the Advisory Committee.

·        Communicates with third party administrators (TPAs) and team members to resolve complex health and welfare and savings plan issues. Evaluate and document current processes and procedures and implements improvements where feasible. 

·        Oversees the development, implementation and ongoing compliance monitoring of federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, PPACA, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, etc. Documents compliance efforts and consults with the Total Rewards Manager to recommend modifications necessary to comply with federal and state mandates. Researches proposed or pending benefit legislation that may affect plan administration, compliance or required disclosure notices and makes modifications or recommends process changes as needed. 

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·        Minimum Experience – 5 years in compensation, benefits, or 5 years of a combination of both functions

·        Minimum Education – Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated above.

·        High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including designing and building spreadsheets.

·        Ability to organize and summarize data, make recommendations, and prepare leadership-ready reports and communications.

·        Knowledge of relevant labor laws.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Experience using ADP as the HRIS system of record.
