Job Description:

Datasite is looking for a revenue professional who is excited to roll-up their sleeves and develop people, processes and systems that will scale with our growth. This highly visible position is responsible for leading the global revenue recognition accounting function. The position manages the revenue team and will be the subject matter expert for revenue recognition in accordance with ASC606, as well as closing the monthly books, driving operational process enhancements and integration of acquired companies’ revenue processes.

A successful leader in this role is someone who has strong ASC606 technical accounting experience as well as strong experience successfully working cross functionally with team members in legal, IT, sales, accounting, FP&A, billing, product, and marketing. Ideal candidates have a passion to improve processes, embrace change, and help us move the organization forward.  An independent self-starter with strong attention to details and the ability to understand transaction workflows are key to success.

They will also assist business leaders with defining key controls, audit processes, address and anticipate issues and opportunities in running the business. This role will report directly into the Global Finance Controller.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance on ASC606 revenue recognition to the accounting team/organization.
  • Provides revenue leadership in addressing business and operational challenges.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to assist with forecasting and planning activities.
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, developing, and managing employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring global revenue recognition is recorded in accordance with ASC606.
  • Ownership of the monthly close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting including controls over the revenue process, analysis and reporting, and process improvement. 
  • Works collaboratively with other functional leaders to ensure appropriate revenue recognition in accordance with new product launches, pricing changes, new customer contracts and new acquisitions.
  • Research and document revenue recognition memos/whitepapers and advise on new accounting standards, new/changes in product offerings, new contracts and acquired companies’ revenue recognition /processes.
  • Conduct accounting policy and principles revenue accounting research and proactively advises management on the potential impact of emerging GAAP guidance and policies.
  • Monthly Accounting Processes:
    • Review Accounts Receivable / Bad Debt Reserves and related flux analysis
    • Review Deferred and Accrued Revenue Adjustments
    • Review revenue journal entries and assist revenue team in posting as required. 
    • Review Revenue reconciliations and Sales Credit Reserves
    • Review/enhance Revenue Metrics
    • Review/enhance Cost of Revenue analysis
  • Work with legal, sales, finance, and project engineering personnel in reviewing revenue contracts to ensure adherence to company policies and verbalize any revenue recognition and operational issues.
  • Assist with the maintenance and improvement of the internal control environment including general adherence and knowledge of controls and external audit procedures, as applicable. Ensures daily management activities are conducted in compliance with internal and external control requirements.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses potential accounting errors/risks on an ongoing basis.
  • Support external audits and reviews.
  • Perform regular ad-hoc reporting and analysis projects.
  • Oversee two revenue accountants as well as dottle line reporting for recent acquisitions.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 12 + years’ accounting experience with a majority of the time spent overseeing revenue recognition and revenue operations preferably in SAAS(usage based) product offerings.
  • Supervisory experience required. 
  • Public accounting (CPA) / private combo experience strongly desired.
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in accounting.
  • Subject matter expertise in ASC606 as well as demonstrated experience with revenue operations.
  • Experience using Revenue Recognition software strongly preferred (i.e., RightRev)
  • Salesforce experience strongly preferred
  • Strong experience collaborating with Accounting, Finance, Tax, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and other key business partners.
  • Self-starter who thrives in high growth environment and is comfortable with autonomy and accountability.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and logical reasoning skills, including complex problem solving, troubleshooting and decision making as well as good judgement and strong operational focus.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to present technical, numerical, complex data and key business drivers to stakeholders as well as train on key business drivers.
  • Possess excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft excel, word and power point skills.
  • Hybrid or remote arrangement acceptable.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, each candidate’s compensation offer may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, your geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience along with the requirements of the position.  Datasite reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.

Salary Range - $124,290 - $215,600
