The Data Foundations Technology Lead is a key member of the Data Platform team within the Advanced Analytics Centre of Excellence (COE). The role has been created to act as an extension of the Platform COE team, as technical lead for the delivery of the Platform foundations being delivered through the Transformation program. 

The Technology Lead will work closely with an SI partner and our BAU Platform team to ensure the delivery of the technical design and build of our Enterprise data platform. Our data platform consists of data warehousing, machine learning, visualization, and data management tools and technologies. 
 
This is a hands-on role, designing and working with an SI to build out platform capabilities and features in line with the roadmap being driven by the transformation program, in line with enterprise technology and security standards. In addition to functional outcomes, this role is responsible for ensuring that the delivered platform is aligned with performance and cost KPIs.

  • Lead the design and development of scalable, robust, secure and performant technology solutions in accordance with business requirements and the platform transformation roadmap, enterprise standards and technology strategy for data applications and/or products

  • Ensure delivery complies with enterprise devops practices

  • Document relevant artefacts such as architecture, application design and operations handover documentation 

  • Effectively communicate ideas, designs and challenges to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 

  • Participate in agile ceremonies, where appropriate

  • Platform thought leadership

  • Platform handover to the BAU Platform team

  • Operations handover for platform service management

 

Qualifications

  • A solid software development background with demonstrable technical leadership
  • Track record of developing simple solutions to  complex problems using modern cloud technology solutions
  • Solid knowledge and experience of development best practices
  • Understanding of a broad range of solution architecture principles, designs and patterns
  • Solid understanding of Agile principles and DevOps practices
  • Experience with working in complex product ecosystems across Azure and/or GCP
  • Experience in delivering scalable solutions
  • Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services like BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure and networking concepts and infrastructure as code
  • Knowledge of application operations processes
  • Knowledge of streaming systems and their design patterns
  • Knowledge or experience managing data platforms, visualisation tools, data management tools and/or ML platforms
  • Solid understanding of unit / integration / API tests, test automation and TDD
  • Good knowledge of SQL 
  • Understanding of non-relational datastores
  • Experience setting up build pipelines
  • Experience in setting up Infrastructure as code 
  • Understanding of secure coding practices
  • Ability to make objective technical decisions where there is no clear correct answer
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity & changing priorities
  • Enthusiastic and positive contributor with a self-directed and self-motivated attitude
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with a cross functional team
  • Promote and uphold the Endeavour values and ways of working in day to day tasks. 
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent tasks
