Job description

This is a remote position.

Our Client offers a suite of broking, banking, wealth management, and technology modules supporting stratified company and department configurations for trading, clearing, settlement, margin lending, custody, investment, and advice businesses. We design and develop automations for capital market life-cycle functions including EOIs, capital raising, order management, corporate actions, clearing, settlement, and custody management, all integrated with a multi-currency enabled general ledger and treasury management capability. Our systems connect to market infrastructures and global custodians via all major messaging and interface protocols, and we power leading wealth management businesses across distribution channels.

Our Client is a group of companies with head office in Wellington, New Zealand with teams working from a number of countries globally (currently, South Africa, United Kingdom, Italy, India, Australia, New Zealand).



Role Description

This is a full-time remote role. The candidate must however reside in South Africa. we are looking for a SME Test Analyst that will collaborate with Quality Engineers to ensure high-quality delivery within project teams. Leveraging their subject matter expertise, they develop test scenarios using BDD practices, with input from BA’s/PO’s, for use in both application development and automated testing. The focus of the SME Test Analyst is on business acumen in Quality Assurance, supporting team members in understanding the business landscape from a QA perspective.

This role is strategically positioned for transformation, as it is envisioned that over time the SME Test Analysts will transition to Quality Engineering after acquiring the necessary technical expertise for the Quality Engineering role.



Requirements

SME Test Analyst Scope and Responsibility:

Requirement Analysis: Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand the requirements for new software systems or enhancements to existing systems in the securities domain.
Test Planning: Develop test plans and strategies based on project requirements, system specifications, and regulatory standards. Determine the scope of testing, testing objectives, and testing approach.
Test Design: Create test cases and test scenarios covering various functional and non-functional aspects of securities trading and investment management systems. Design test data and identify test environments.
Test Execution: Execute test cases and perform different types of testing, including functional testing, regression testing, integration testing. Record test results and document any defects or issues encountered during testing.
Leverage Automation Capability for Execution: As part of test design identify test candidates for automation and work with Quality Engineers to automate critical scenarios as part of SecuritEase overall Quality Strategy to introduce test automation as much as possible.
Risk Assessment: Assess risks associated with software changes and new releases in the securities domain. Prioritize testing efforts based on the criticality of system functionalities and potential impact on trading operations.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with development teams, business stakeholders, quality assurance teams, and other project members to communicate testing progress, issues, and recommendations. Participate in meetings and reviews to provide input on software quality and test coverage.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve testing processes, methodologies, and tools used in the securities domain. Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software testing.

Domain specific knowledge requirements:

To enhance the quality and speed of our QE team, a working knowledge of capital market asset classes, their respective lifecycle processes, relevant laws and regulations, and common messaging protocols is required.

At a minimum, the ability to demonstrate an solid to comprehensive understanding of at least 4 of the following capital market / financial services industry areas is required for this role:

  1. The trade life cycles, from order entry to finalized settlement, for:
    1. Cash equities - domestic or international markets (aka shares or stocks);
    2. Managed funds (aka mutual funds);
    3. Fixed income (bonds, notes, term deposits, etc)
    4. Derivative instruments - futures and exchange traded options (ETOs);
    5. Cash management
    6. Foreign exchange
    7. Margin lending
    8. Securities lending
  2. Corporate action events and their life cycles for:
    1. Mandatory events
    2. Mandatory events with a choice
    3. Elective events
  1. Settlement processes as these relate to obligations between the Market → House → Client
  2. Common exception handling & processing. Examples include:
    1. Failed trades
    2. Decimal rounding convention mismatches
    3. Bookings error handling
  1. Custody processes and related omnibus accounting and management
  2. Accounting and taxation as these relate to the processing, accounting and reporting for securities and unit priced instruments.
  3. Wealth and Investment planning and management - especially discretionary investment management
  4. Portfolio management and return & performance management
  5. Experience with the securities (the payments set is a nice to have) set of SWIFT and FIX protocols
  6. Regional compliance (initially based on the individual's place of residence, but an understanding of compliance across regions where SecuritEase operates will be required over time).
