Job Description

Position Overview:

Information Protection team within Cyber Fusion Center is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Summer Intern to join our cybersecurity team. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to various aspects of our cybersecurity program. You will work closely with our experienced cybersecurity professionals and assist in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our organization's information systems and data. This is a valuable opportunity to expand your knowledge in the dynamic field of cybersecurity and develop practical skills to kickstart your career.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing security events and incidents to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of information protection controls, including Data Loss Prevention, Insider Risk  and analyzing the logs.

  • Assist in the review and analysis of security policies, procedures, and guidelines, recommending improvements as needed.

  • Support the investigation of security incidents and providing remediation recommendations.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of cybersecurity awareness training and educational materials for employees.

  • Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.

  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, concepts, and technologies.

  • Familiarity with networking protocols, operating systems, and security frameworks.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, PowerShell).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of common cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools, such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, and network monitoring solutions.

  • Understanding of risk management principles and methodologies.

  • Experience with ethical hacking, penetration testing, or incident response.

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.

 

Expected salary range:

$39,600.00-$105,500.00
