Job Description

We’re seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to manage financial operations for our expanding medico-legal consultancy. In this role, you’ll oversee day-to-day bookkeeping, handle payroll, manage property investments, and provide valuable financial insights. You’ll work closely with our external accountant and leadership team, playing a crucial role in our company’s financial health and growth strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily bookkeeping tasks using Xero
  • Reconcile accounts and ensure accurate transaction recording
  • Handle accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices
  • Prepare and lodge BAS statements
  • Process payroll for employees and contractor payments
  • Oversee financial aspects of property investments
  • Provide proactive financial insights and identify areas for improvement
  • Assist with financial report preparation for external accountant
  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations and data security requirements


Requirements
  • Proven experience as a senior bookkeeper, preferably with Australian businesses (but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations and BAS requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Proactive approach to financial management and problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Experience with property investment financials is a plus
  • Comfortable working remotely with daily video check-ins
  • Flexibility to potentially increase hours as the role develops
