‘1 in 3 fish harvested from our oceans never make it onto a plate. We want to fix that!’
🔭 Our vision
At Rooser, we’re on a mission to eliminate the world’s seafood waste. For us, this means creating transparency and certainty in what is an incredibly tough industry.
We’re building the world’s first seafood trading platform dedicated to connecting seafood processors with wholesalers.
We want to eradicate the fragmented processes and volatility that plague the industry & get seafood flowing more efficiently through the supply chain. As a perishable product, increased speed means longer shelf life and, ultimately, less waste.
Sounds simple, but this is no small feat.
That’s why we’re looking for the most talented and passionate people to join us on our mission and help turn this vision into reality.
With backing from Index Ventures (Etsy, Farfetch and Just Eat), Google Ventures (Uber, Stripe, StockX) and Point Nine Capital (Zendesk, DeliveryHero, Revolut), we’re not alone in believing in this vision.
🏅 What we value
Rooser was founded on the idea that we should leave the planet in a better way than it was given to us. We want to work with people who have the same values we do.
⚓️ Leave your ego in the harbour - a high-performance crew functions on passion, not egos.
✊ Respect your crew mates - customers, crew mates and co-investors, you need each other, act like it.
🛳 You’re the skipper - we all own a part of Rooser and act like it.
🐟 Relentless like a salmon - we’re ready to swim against the current, focus on the goal and get it done.

🧭 The Mission
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead and elevate Rooser’s financial reporting and internal processes and drive the company’s scalability across our entities in the UK and France.
This is a senior position within the Finance team, and will have ownership of reporting and audit requirements for our UK and French entities, lead on technical accounting issues, transfer pricing, tax, treasury, as well as mentorship and development of the team.
You will ensure the smooth operation of our financial processes while continuously seeking improvements in our systems and reporting. We need a hands-on leader who thinks strategically and is always looking for ways to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, both now and in the future.
🚢 What will you be doing?
Own financial reporting: oversee the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, and continuously improve the month-end close process to support the company's rapid growth.
Manage key relationships supporting the finance function, including outsourced accountants and payment solution providers, and work cross-functionally with every part of the business, including the leadership team.
Lead on technical accounting matters: be a source of knowledge on technical matters such as revenue recognition, and advise leadership on accounting implications of current operations and future plans.
Manage tax and compliance, such as managing audits and ensuring all statutory reporting deadlines (accounts, corporation tax, annual payroll-related returns, etc) are met for both our French and UK entities.
Drive continuous streamlining of finance operations and systems to maximise efficiency and ensure the company's ability to scale to 5x the transaction volume.
🎣 This role will be a great catch for you if…
You hold a professional qualification (CIMA or ACCA) and have 12+ years of experience in public practice and high-growth industry settings.
You’re a finance leader who thrives on versatility and brings deep expertise in finance operations, controls, and systems.
You’re hands-on and detail-oriented, with a talent for translating data into actionable insights.
You're motivated by taking ownership of challenges, like building robust reporting infrastructure or managing key partnerships with external providers and internal stakeholders.
🦐 This role won’t be a great catch for you if…
You are uncomfortable with rapid change and ambiguity as the business scales. You prefer a steady-state environment over a constantly evolving one.
You’re not excited by the startup environment where creating and running processes yourself are essential.
Our mission to eliminate seafood waste doesn’t resonate with you. You don’t need to be a seafood enthusiast but we do need people committed to building this business and making a positive difference to an entire industry.
🧁 What’s in it for you?
