Job Responsibilities

The Property and Casualty Adjuster is responsible for conducting office investigations and adjusting commercial property and casualty losses (including Commercial Auto, Professional Liability and first and third party losses under the Business Owners Policy). This role does not involve managing a fixed inventory of assigned files.  This role focuses on handling day – to – day claim tasks as needed. This may include monitoring a staff adjuster’s pending while they are on leave, making first calls on a day with heavy new loss volume, or bringing stagnant files up-to-date. The Adjuster may have simultaneous projects for multiple lines of business.

The Adjuster is responsible for, but not limited to: 

  • Obtaining and reviewing estimates, evidence, reports, and medical records
  • Evaluating injury demands
  • Negotiating and settling BI and UMBI/UIMBI claims
  • Handling claims directly with insureds and/or claimants or their attorney representatives, as warranted.
  • Establishing appropriate reserves as warranted throughout the claims investigation
  • Processing expense and indemnity payments, as appropriate
  • Taking recorded statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses
  • Drafting detailed correspondence, including coverage position letters and reservation of rights letters
  • Retaining and managing outside vendors and experts as part of a quality claims investigation
  • Escalating matters to management when needed
  • Providing superb customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintaining an organized and efficient workflow across multiple claim administration platforms

Qualifications

 We are seeking candidates with the following:

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • An active adjuster’s license in their state of residence or designated home state
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize
  • Ability to switch focus at a moment’s notice
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Self-motivator: works independently with minimal to moderate supervision
  • Past experience handling property damage claims
  • Minimum 3 years handling injury claims preferred
  • Minimum 1 year handling litigated injury claims preferred
  • Proven record of top tier performance ratings
  • Previous commercial auto claims experience preferred
  • Maintain positive and professional demeanor when interacting with internal and external customers

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided.  The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 per year.  Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
