Geospatial Solution Engineer

Overview:

NV5 Geospatial is actively recruiting an experienced Geospatial (GIS) Solution Engineer specializing in deploying, monitoring, and managing Linux-based ArcGIS Enterprise solutions in Azure and AWS. The candidate must be self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills.

Work Environment:

• Location is flexible, but preference given to Mountain and Pacific time zones
• Monthly maintenance outside of typical business hours required
• Travel < 10% of the time

• Deploy, secure, manage, and maintain complex test/dev/prod environments in Azure and AWS for ArcGIS Enterprise infrastructure built in Linux and Windows.
• Administer servers by installing security patches, scripting database backup processes, and monitoring performance during maintenance windows.
• Deploy, secure, and administer SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL instances on Azure and AWS.
• Support best practices related to security, application optimization, business processes, and issue resolutions.
• Identify and develop process improvements and efficiencies.
• Attend standup meetings and report progress to team.
• Develop, support, and consult on project plans & schedules with clients.
• Develop system specification, best practice, standard operating procedure, and training materials.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated experience deploying, upgrading, and administering Linux-based ArcGIS Enterprise solutions in Azure and/or AWS. 

• 5+ years of experience or equivalent supporting IT/GIS system and data integration projects with the ability to deploy complex architectures in Azure and/or AWS. 

• Experience with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL database configuration and administration.  

• Bachelor’s degree in geography, technology, science, engineering, or another related field; or equivalent experience. 

• Multiple years of experience administering Linux and Windows servers. 

• Expert knowledge of container services, including Kubernetes and AWS ECS. 

• Experience in scripting languages, particularly Python and JavaScript. 

• Previous experience deploying and managing monitoring tools such as PRTG, DataDog, and ArcGIS Monitor.
