Responsibilities:

The Remote Sensing Scientist will apply Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) as well as other remote sensing data sources and methods to establish high precision, high accuracy change detection methods. These methods will be used in tipping and queuing of geodetic survey requirements and other geoscientific applications, including natural hazard analysis, in support of a national security customer. Once established, the Remote Sensing Scientist will guide process implementation within unclassified cloud environments. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Remote Sensing Scientist will solicit and develop requirements with end users and mission teams, evaluate capabilities and limitations, statistically analyze data quality and uncertainty, and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other documentation.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of remote sensor and platform capabilities, including SAR sensors and platforms.

  • 10 years’ experience processing and analyzing InSAR to include image splitting, coregistration, interferogram generation, coherence estimation, debursting, topographic phase removal, phase filtering, phase unwrapping, geocoding, phase to displacement, and masking out lower coherence areas.

  • Experience using InSAR to determine 3D deformation.

  • Experience applying geodetic and photogrammetric principles to co-register multiple data sets to the WGS84 reference frame and perform statistical analysis to determine the absolute and relative error.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) field with emphasis on remote sensing; or military equivalent. Additional experience can be substituted for education.

  • Experience using SNAP, SNAPHU, StaMPS, or similar InSAR processing analysis software.

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS and/or ArcPro, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, PCI Geomatics, or other remote sensing software analysis suites.

  • Proficiency with Python scripting is preferred.

  • Geodetic surveying or land surveying experience or coursework preferred.

Security Clearance Requirements: 

  • Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain and maintain a Counter-Intelligence (CI) Polygraph. 

Competencies & Skills:

  • Ability to apply structured processes to enrich or manage data.

  • Ability to apply GEOINT standards and quality.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of data exploitation techniques.

  • Comfortable working with a team to achieve project completion.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite.
