JOB OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for commercial support and business partnership, regarding all financial matters of the Orthopedics businesses.  The Sr. Director of Finance - Orthopedics manages financial matters for the business including directing and coordinating activities related to Finance, controllership and treasury as follows; general accounting, financial reporting, financial closing, financial analysis, risk management, compliance, budgeting, forecasting, KPI management & analysis, product development, product launches, inventory management and mergers and acquisition related finance and integration activities. Manages financial analysis to support decision-making. Interfaces with various finance, functional and business departments within the group to ensure all public company requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.  Has significant oversight of financial aspects of KOL partnerships with HCP’s for training, product development and business strategy consultation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop, track and manage KPIs and associated forecasts as well as tactical plans to achieve KPIs for all key pillars of the business.
  • Manages process, model, diligence and ultimately integrates business development opportunities
  • Partner with business unit finance teams to assess financial performance of those business units with shared commercial responsibility
  • Partner closely with other areas of the business to define and prioritize most attractive segments to enter within new and existing markets
  • Plans, directs, and manages the Group Finance function to ensure the identification, development, and implementation of cost-effective systems and efficient financial operations. 
  • Oversees budgeting and forecast preparation and drives continuous improvement through coordination with department Managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.  Reviews and reports projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals and suggests and assists in the implementation of methods to improve the financial performance of the business.
  • Provides timely and accurate analyses of budgets, financial reports, and trends to assist Business Leadership in decision-making.
  • Develops strong financial forecasting strategies and analyses and works with
  • Management Teams to help address any forecast shortfalls.
  • Directs the preparation of all financial reports and financials closes, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to stakeholders, KPIs, Regional analyses and statistical reporting to drive appropriate business decisions.  Ensures all financial reporting is consistent with proper accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees financial and management reporting across business units to ensure accuracy
  • Provide oversight of financial modelling to support organic and M&A growth opportunities
  • Serves as Financial lead for S&OP integrated business planning
  • Leads analytics, reporting and strategic guidance regarding all aspects of inventory -management, including consigned and loaner instrumentation and implant sets managed by employees, agents, distributors and customers. 
  • Leads all analytics and provides strategic guidance around field and finished goods inventory
  • Provide oversight of due-diligence, and integration planning of business acquisitions. 
  • Partner with Leadership to develop strategic direction for the Orthopedics businesses
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

  • BS in Finance or Accounting required, and MBA preferred
  • Understanding of GAAP

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

Typically 12 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; 7 or more years of management experience.  Minimum 5 years in the orthopedics medical device space with responsibility for commercial activities, product development and business development.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: 

Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Travel up to 50% in year one (California). After year one, travel likely to lessen to 25%.

The posted range for this position is $178,568-$281,245, which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.

This position is eligible for bonus and incentives not reflected in the posted range.
