This is a remote position.

Schedule: Full-time (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm Manila Time, with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)


Client Overview: The client helps small businesses publish their news stories and messages across the globe. From launch our primary goal was to stimulate profitable growth for our clients and that vision continues unabated.

Responsibilities:
  • Proofreading and Editing: Editing and proofreading the news stories for spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and overall clarity. Ensure the written content meets high editorial standards, including correct grammar, punctuation, syntax, etc. Focus on both the details and the big picture—fixing the smallest of errors that have been overlooked while respecting the overall theme and intent of the content.
  • Editorial Guidelines: Editing the news stories and making sure they adhere to the editorial guidelines of the target publications before they are submitted by the writers. Review and edit all news stories to meet the needs and preferences of clients.
  • Writer Management and Development: Directly manage a team of writers, including hiring, training, and mentoring. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide continuous feedback to ensure high-quality writing standards are maintained. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence in writing.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all written drafts submitted to clients meet our company's quality standards. Review and assess the content's accuracy, factual consistency, and overall effectiveness.
  • Publication and Headline Review: Review the presentation of headlines, publications and reports, including the formatting, layout, and tone. Ensure they are visually appealing, engaging, and aligned with the overall objectives of our clients' PR campaigns.
  • Team Assistance: Helping the writers during calls with clients in determining the angles of the stories. Train and provide direction and feedback to the writers' writing performance.
  • Special Projects: Assist partners and the general manager in performing special tasks as assigned. This may include, but not limited to, writing, editing, proofreading, and participating in additional projects such as blog writing and internal news stories.


Requirements
  • Willing to work full-time with no other part-time jobs, no side hustle, no further studies or consultancy
  • Has experience in editing new stories and articles
  • Minimum of 2 years of editing experience, with a proven track record of successful proofreading and editing projects.
  • Previous work experience with international clients, demonstrating the ability to navigate cultural nuances and communicate effectively across borders, is highly regarded.
  • Experience in using ChatGPT and other AI platforms or Learning Language Models is preferred but not required
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure error-free content.
  • Proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, and syntax, and a solid understanding of editorial guidelines and adherence to AP style or equivalent.
  • Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback to writers.
  • Dedication to the role with no other work or side hustles so that they can fully focus on delivering high-quality editorial services.
  • Familiarity with using ChatGPT or similar tools for editing purposes.
  • Comfortable joining meetings and interacting with clients via Zoom, as needed.
