The purpose of this role is to support the Case Management teams by providing up-to-date technical guidance on the compensation payment schemes and assisting in their administration. This position operates in a customer centric environment that focuses on the pro-active management of claims.

As a Technical Specialist, you will use your previous experience across many facets of workers compensation to coach team members and provide creative and strategic advice in accordance with Victorian workers compensation law and WorkSafe Victoria guidelines.

This will be a permanent, full time position based in the Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing technical support to claims teams in line with Victorian workers compensation law and WorkSafe Victoria guidelines
  • Provide regular advice and feedback to Claims Specialists / Case Managers and Team Leaders and improve overall quality of decisions relating to liability / work capacity / permanent impairment / weekly payment entitlements and communication through effective training, quality reviews and management of disputes.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback about current claims management practices and procedures ensuring emerging trends are identified and managed.
  • Developing strategic initiatives and procedures to ensure all service, performance and compliance measures are achieved.
  • Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
  • Assisting with organisational compliance with legal, governance and WorkSafe Victoria agent requirements.
     

ABOUT YOU

  • Strong technical experience, preferably within the Victorian workers compensation scheme.
  • Experience in managing workers compensation claims within all or most claims management segments.
  • Experience in managing relationships and competing stakeholder priorities.
  • Exceptional problem solving and strategic thinking skills; and
  • Experience in leadership, in particular coaching and supporting others to succeed.
  • Qualifications in Law and working experience in personal injury litigation would be highly advantageous.
