Position Summary: 
The Associate Intake Clinician plays a critical role in the initial assessment and intake process for new clients. This position is responsible for conducting intake interviews, gathering comprehensive client histories, assessing immediate needs, and ensuring clients are appropriately referred to the necessary services by connecting with referrals outside of our organization based on the referring entities resources.. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach, strong knowledge of informed consent, mandated reporting skill and crisis management. Along with a strong commitment to client-centered care.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Initial Assessments: Perform thorough intake interviews to gather detailed client information, including medical, psychological, and social histories.
  • Evaluate Client Needs: Assess the immediate needs and concerns of clients to determine the appropriate level of care and services required. 
  • Assess Suitability for Daybreak and Telehealth Services: 
    • Evaluate client access to Zoom and their ability to establish a private and safe session environment.
    • Consider the nature of the client's presenting problem and its compatibility with Daybreak and telehealth services.
    • Identify primary needs that may warrant referral out.
    • Assess the severity of the diagnosis and the client’s level of engagement or interest in services.
  • Documentation: Timely and accurate documentation of client interactions, assessments, and engagement with other organizations (CPS) in accordance with organizational policies and confidentiality regulations.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and crisis intervention as needed including creation of safety plans, ensuring clients are safe and supported during the intake process.
  • Referral Coordination: Collaborate with other departments and external agencies to facilitate timely referrals and ensure clients receive comprehensive care.
  • Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs and ensure they are aware of and understand available services and resources.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with clinical staff, supervisors, and other team members to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to client care.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and industry standards.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish- Strongly Preferred

Licensure:

  • Active associate clinical license: ACSW, APCC, AMFT
  • Experience: Experience in a clinical or mental health setting working with school-aged children, with specific experience in intake and assessment preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of the use of the Zoom platform.
    • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin) preferred.
