Position: Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Herndon, VA or open to remote/hybrid VA, DC, MD NC, GA, TX, WA, PA, IL, FL, SC

Job Overview:
This individual will serve as a critical member of the Infrastructure Engineering team. They will work independently and collaboratively with other Exostar teams to design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure solutions that leverage cloud technologies and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in managing cloud environments, particularly in Azure, and have experience deploying and maintaining Kubernetes clusters using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

Your responsibilities:
• Designing, developing, and managing scalable infrastructure solutions using IaC, with a focus on automation, efficiency, and security.
• Building and maintaining containerized environments using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to ensure robust and scalable application deployment.
• Collaborating with development, operations, and security teams to integrate systems and applications into a cohesive infrastructure.
• Implementing and managing cloud resources, primarily within Azure, to ensure optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Using monitoring tools to assess system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the reliability and availability of infrastructure.
• Continuously improving infrastructure by automating repetitive tasks, reducing manual intervention, and enhancing scalability.
• Ensuring infrastructure complies with regulatory requirements, including ITAR, and supports business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Providing expert-level support and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related incidents and issues, focusing on root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Documenting infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and operational efficiency.

Basic Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 6+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud environments, or a related field.
• 10 – 12 years of experience required without a degree.
• "Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, Ansible or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
• Experience with Azure cloud services, including managing resources, networking, and security.
• Expertise in managing and deploying Kubernetes clusters, particularly using Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Strong scripting skills with tools like PowerShell or Python to automate tasks and manage infrastructure at scale.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating infrastructure changes into automated deployment processes.
• A deep understanding of networking, firewalls, load balancers, and other core infrastructure components.
• A commitment to security best practices and experience implementing security controls in cloud environments.
• You are a U.S. person—this is a requirement due to ITAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Azure Monitor, Dynatrace to ensure infrastructure health and performance.
• A passion for automation and a mindset focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• The ability to collaborate effectively across teams and drive projects to completion in a fast-paced environment.
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability for your work, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
