We are currently seeking talented individuals to join our Payments & Banking Operations team within the Cash Operations branch. As a key member of this team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless execution and support of all incoming and outgoing payments, from initiation to delivery. This role is located in beautiful Victoria, BC.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
Investment Operations (IO) is comprised of four branches: Derivatives, Collateral & Engineering, Trade Management, Cash Operations and Business Solutions. The department delivers core capabilities in areas including trade settlements, corporate actions, derivatives, collateral management, foreign exchange, and cash services, while collaborating with internal partners to design and coordinate end-to-end solutions and providing leadership for the custodian relationship.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Analyst, Payments & Banking Operations is responsible for ensuring that the daily processing cash disbursements are executed correctly and oversee all payment-related inquires. Additional responsibilities include working with banks and custodians to follow AML standards and investigations.
The Senior Analyst is an active participant on multiple department initiatives focused on new cash management and payments strategies, regulatory reporting, and data management. The Senior Analyst works closely with internal business units in the implementation of process improvements. The role may also be involved in branch decision-making by providing expert opinions on technical solutions and workflows.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
3+ years of progressive experience in treasury or payment operations with an asset management, investment firm or payment solutions company with knowledge of Swift and AML
University degree in Finance, Economics, Business or related field. An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered
Knowledge of cash management and payment trends
Strong analytical skills and experience resolving payment investigations
Effective communication and organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently and accurately within a fast-paced environment
Advanced excel skills, including the ability to build macros and strong data analysis with more advanced applicability
Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet internal and external deadlines
Experience in Swift and payment applications are an asset
Experience or education in R, R Studio, Phyton, VBA, SQL preferred
Professional designation such as CFA, CA, CPA, MBA, CAIA or other relevant designations is preferred
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Executes payments related to pension client requirements and investment programs according to received instructions from the cash request portal
Works with high-risk and high client impact transactions, including large dollar transactions for clients and investments programs
Ensures confidentiality of investments and clients by securing all documentation and adhering to the BCI policies and frameworks
Works closely with cash management teams to determine appropriate optimization of funds to include in daily proposals
Maintains and provides feedback on existing banking and custody relationships, and establishing new ones as the growth of the business requires
Handles administrative tasks including maintaining records and daily operational tasks
Drives innovation by identifying opportunities and documenting situations that would benefit from business process and/or technology improvements, automation, and best practices
Develops and implements new business procedures, and assists in ensuring that team procedures and templates are up-to-date, and the team is informed of the changes
Provides support to clients and Investment programs with on-going payment inquires
Investigates queries from team members, BCI’s custodian and auditors
Troubleshoots issues and errors using all available resources, including custodian reporting, the accounting book of record, the investment book or record and banking portals
Mentors and supports the training of Analysts and Junior Analysts
Supports the delivery and implementation of new department initiatives and participates in business continuity planning
Performs other responsibilities as delegated by the Manager
This role will require flexibility outside of regular office hours
SALARY RANGE
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.
The annualized base salary range for this role is C$87,000 to C$105,000. The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.
We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.
Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
