WHAT YOU WILL DO:

 

Team Leadership and Unit Management:

  • Lead and manage the Interpreters Service Unit
  • Develop strategies for efficient assignment and deployment of interpreters for various events.
  • Ensure high standards of service delivery, maintaining quality and consistency across all projects.
  • Optimize processes for interpreter assignment, scheduling, and event management to ensure efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain quality control measures, ensuring the accuracy and professionalism of interpretation services.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to interpreter services.
  • Analyze trends in interpreter demand and performance, using data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare reports on unit performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Interpreter Recruitment and Relationship Management:

  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and training of freelance interpreters
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a large pool of interpreters, ensuring their engagement and satisfaction.
  • Manage interpreter performance, providing feedback and development opportunities.

Resource Allocation and Event Coordination:

  • Coordinate the assignment of interpreters to events based on language requirements, availability and expertise.
  • Collaborate with event managers and clients to understand specific interpretation needs and ensure the right match of interpreters.
  • Ensure smooth coordination of interpreters during events, addressing any issues that may arise.

Client Engagement and Support:

  • Act as a point of contact for clients regarding interpreter services, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues.
  • Work closely with the account management teams to align interpreter services with client expectations.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to clients on best practices for utilizing interpretation services in their events.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for interpretation services, especially when working with international bodies like the EU and UN.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of interpretation protocols and ensure that all interpreters adhere to these standards.



WHAT WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:


Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Translation, Interpretation, Linguistics, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in interpretation or translation (e.g., CIoL, AIIC) is a plus.

Experience:

  • Experience in the interpretation or translation industry, with at least 5 years in a coordinating interpreter services role.
  • Experience working with international organizations like the EU or UN is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in managing a large pool of freelance interpreters and coordinating multilingual events.
  • Experience in team management for at least 1 year

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a focus on efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, interpreters, and internal teams.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Familiarity with interpretation technology.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies used in the interpretation industry.

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in English is essential; additional languages (especially those frequently used in international organizations like French, Spanish, or German) are highly advantageous.

Client-Focused Mindset:

  • Strong client service orientation, with the ability to understand and anticipate client needs.
  • Experience in client engagement and managing relationships with high-profile clients.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Ability to troubleshoot issues during live events and provide quick, effective solutions.
  • Strategic thinking with the capacity to innovate and improve processes.

Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptability:

  • Understanding of and respect for different cultures and practices, especially when working with international teams and clients.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, often dealing with urgent and last-minute requests.
