Your Role

As The Manager Of Machine Learning, You Will

  • Lead with Vision: Drive the strategic planning and execution of our machine learning initiatives.
  • Inspire & Mentor: Guide and support a talented team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Develop Impactful Models: Create and implement machine learning models that enhance personalized learning experiences for millions of students.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product teams, software engineers, and UX/UI designers to integrate machine learning functionalities into our products.
  • Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in machine learning, AI, and ed-tech, and use this knowledge to refine our ML strategy.
  • Communicate Clearly: Simplify complex machine learning concepts and results for stakeholders across the organization.
  • Ensure Quality: Apply best practices to guarantee the quality, reliability, and scalability of our machine learning systems.
  • Drive Improvements: Define key metrics to evaluate ML model effectiveness and use these insights to drive continuous improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and coaching high-performing teams.
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong skills in software development and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Hands-on experience with GPUs and optimization techniques.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical concepts, and data structures.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based machine learning platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, as well as NoSQL databases like AWS Dynamo.
  • Proven track record of deploying machine learning models in real-world applications.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NLP and generative models, especially in educational contexts.
  • Contributions to intellectual property or published research.
  • Prior experience in the ed-tech industry.
  • Ability to convey complex technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience designing/building data pipelines and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data warehouses and data lakes.
