Description

Join a leading staffing agency in the job placement industry, where we are currently seeking three Coding Specialist candidates for a Health Information Management opportunity. This role involves working as a Facility IP coder, requiring experience at a Level II Trauma center, proficiency in coding across all discharge departments, and extensive experience with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI).

The primary purpose of this position is to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic and procedure PCS codes on clinical encounters in accordance with regulatory and CMS Official Guidelines, ensuring proper reimbursement. This position is fully remote for candidates residing in states excluding CA, NY, NJ, CO, OR, and HI.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intermediate clinical inpatient support through the Health Information Management department.
  • Complete coding assignments for inpatient admissions from various discharge departments, including but not limited to: Postpartum, Newborn, Newborn NICU, Cardiac ICU, Ortho, Nephrology, and Neurosciences.
  • Adhere to CMS’ Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes by translating diagnostic statements, physician orders, and other documentation.
  • Identify appropriate charges based on documentation and coding guidelines.
  • Collaborate with HIM staff to clarify documentation or orders that are incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Interpret and apply American Hospital Association (AHA) Official Coding Guidelines.
  • Maintain coding certification and stay updated on current ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality standards set by department leadership.

Skills And Certifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of previous inpatient coding experience is required.
  • Experience in acute care facilities and/or Trauma Level II coding is preferred.
  • AAPC, AHIMA, or Certified Coding credential (excluding apprenticeship classification) is required.
