The Student Intern at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) observes the activities and projects of the department; meets with project team members and organizational leadership; participates in project meetings and engages with stakeholders; completes all assigned project work; and engages in project activities with the purpose of developing their healthcare management and technical skills. The Student Intern will engage and participate in various GRC project efforts, including developing and creating project materials; coordinating administrative and project tasks; writing technical reports, communicating with project stakeholders and partners; and engaging in other project activities related to quality improvement science, research and data analysis, program design, implementation and evaluation, and strategic and business planning. Responsibilities may include project-related research and development activities, including literature reviews and basic data analysis.

Required Qualifications

Internship candidate should be an enrolled graduate student in a health administration, public health, business administration or related program. Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare policies, public health, and data analysis. Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with project partners and earn respect of stakeholders. Demonstrates ability to think critically, analytically, and independently. Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.

The Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center’s mission is to identify, research, and spread innovative practices to improve access to quality healthcare for all Ohioans through partnerships with healthcare, state, and academic leaders. The GRC’s current work encompasses critical issues and challenges in public health and health services, including maternal and infant mortality, the ongoing opioid crisis, Ohio’s Medicaid expansion, management of chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, health equity, and health system payment innovation.
